Dr. Karl Kroenlein (Veterinarian DVM)

Dr. K grew up in New York but spent summers visiting his grandmother in Williamsburg. He graduated from Dartmouth College with a degree in biology and moved to Williamsburg with his future wife, Ruth Ann, in 1998. Dr. K worked as a veterinarian assistant for Dr. Sullivan at Colonial Veterinary Clinic from 1999 until he entered vet school at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine (Virginia Tech) in 2003. Upon graduation in 2007, Dr. K worked as a veterninarian in southwest Virginia until relocating to Williamsburg in 2015. At the end of 2018, Dr. Sullivan announced his retirement and sold Colonial Veterinary Clinic to Dr. K. Dr. K has interests in internal medicine, surgery, cytology and ultrasound. He primarily sees dogs and cats but has 15+ years of experience with a variety of other companion pets including small mammals (e.g. guinea pigs, ferrets, sugar gliders), reptiles and birds. He resides in Williamsburg with his wife, twin boys, two cats, one dog and one 32 year old turtle, a few fish and four snakes.

Dr. Heidi Garman (Veterinarian DVM)

Dr. Garman hails from Pawley’s Island, SC, but has resided in the Hampton Roads area since 2007. After moving to Williamsburg with her husband Patrick, she joined the team at Colonial Veterinary Clinic in 2020. She obtained her B.S. in biology from Old Dominion University and her DVM from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine (Virginia Tech) with a focus on small animal medicine. She completed advanced training in diagnostic ultrasound through the Sound Academy of Veterinary Imaging in 2021 and is pleased to offer this service to our patients. Dr. Garman enjoys all areas of veterinary medicine, and has a special interest in internal medicine and diagnostic ultrasound. Dr. Garman values the opinions of her patient’s human family members, and strives to keep family members well-informed and included in the decision-making process for their pet. When not at the clinic Dr. Garman enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, and hanging out with their two dogs and two cats.

Dr. Jeneen Houghton (Veterinarian DVM)

I received my BS, MS, and DVM degrees from Colorado State University. I've been living in Williamsburg since 2007 with my four children and mini-zoo.

Dr. Chris Huguley (Veterinarian DVM)

Dr. Christopher Huguley was born and raised in the surrounding area in New Kent County. After graduating high school in 2016, he attended Thomas Nelson Community College where he met his future wife, Shauna, and received an Associates of Science. In 2018 Dr. Huguley transferred to James Madison University where he received his B.S. in Biology. From there, he moved to Blacksburg, Virginia in 2020 where he started veterinary school at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine (Virginia Tech). One year into the program, he married his wife, Shauna. In 2024 he received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). Dr. Huguley is excited to develop and grow in all areas of veterinary medicine. He believes in providing the highest quality of care to his patients and their families. Dr. Huguley and his wife live with their two labrador retreivers, Hazel and JR. They are also expecting their first baby, a baby girl! In Dr. Huguley’s free time, he enjoys outdoor activities, Outer Banks trips, and spending time with family.

Dr. Galina Pate (Veterinarian DVM)

Dr. Galina Pate is originally from Milford, Connecticut. She earned her B.S. in Biomedical Sciences from the University of New Hampshire in 2015. During that time, she gained a variety of experience to include working on a dairy farm, at a zoo, and conducting an independent research study on wild koalas in Australia. After obtaining her undergraduate degree, she attended Auburn University, where she earned her DVM in 2019. While at Auburn, Dr. Pate received the Health Professions Scholarship from the United States Army and was commissioned as an officer during her first year. She completed Army training while in school, and upon graduation, began active duty service. In her 4 years of service she treated Military Working Dogs, managed a clinic, and served many roles within public health including food inspection. Her favorite memory from the Army was getting airlifted into a helicopter while holding onto a Military Working Dog! Dr. Pate transitioned into civilian veterinary medicine in 2023. Her interests include urgent care, feline medicine, geriatric medicine, and pain management. She is most passionate about the importance of the human-animal bond, and ensuring thorough communication with every client. While not working, Dr. Pate enjoys spending time with her family. She is married to another local veterinarian, and together they have 2 daughters, Isla and Philippa, as well as 2 cats (Biscuits and Gravy) and a dog (Pumpkin). They enjoy traveling as a family (especially to Disney), and outdoor activities such as kayaking and hiking.
